This song is a meditation on love as an ongoing series of tangible, everyday actions. We’ve been friends for 18 years and bandmates for 15 of those years, and in many ways this song and album are a testament to our deep and enduring artistic connection. We’ve found that love is often practiced on the smallest scale - a cup of tea, a word of encouragement, or a shared knowing glance.
This song has taken on new meaning in recent months. As we have continued to organize for a free Palestine in the face of governments and institutions that do not support its people, we are constantly reminded that ‘we keep us safe.’ We’ve seen our community show up for one another in extraordinary ways: providing mutual aid, fighting for disability justice, and creating for ourselves the world we want to live in.
