OFFERINGS
For Beginners:
Whether you’ve never picked up a guitar before, or you have an old family heirloom that you’ve been messing around with for years, I can support you in starting a fun and fruitful journey with the instrument. My goal is to help you discover the most intuitive way for you to start playing the songs YOU want to play. Lessons will cover the basics of guitar playing, including reading chord charts, tuning, understanding rhythm, strumming and musicality, all while learning to play songs YOU like in a fun & positive setting. All ages and skill levels are welcome.
For Intermediate Players:
If you feel like your playing has plateaued and you can’t seem to crest the next level of playing that you’ve been dreaming of, I will help you assess and analyze your current practicing habits, and design interesting and challenging exercises to push your playing forward. This includes but is not limited to: flatpicking technique, fingerpicking, new chord shapes and voicings, innovative rhythm playing and arrangement, and performance technique and best practices. Learn how to utilize guitar scales to understand music theory at your own pace, and start soloing, improvising, and jamming without fear.
Coaching for All Levels of Players:
As a guitarist and songwriter with nearly a decade of professional experience, I would love to share my knowledge and coach you through your guitar journey. I can support you with anything from creating sustainable practice routines, managing performance anxiety/stage fright, identifying and evolving your tone and technique, or getting guidance on expanding your repertoire and tools. We will create concrete and tangible goals, a practice/action plan, and create a regular cadence for communication and accountability.
*Before lessons begin, every new student will receive a free 15-minute consultation with me to assess your goals, needs, and address any questions you have
FAQ’s
What do I need to get started? A computer, an internet connection, Zoom or FaceTime, and a guitar!
How long are lessons? Lessons can be one hour or a half hour. I recommend the first lesson to be one hour long, which will allow time for introductions and a general assessment of your goals as a player.
How frequent will my lessons be? For beginners, my strong recommendation is to commit to taking weekly or bi-weekly lessons. I've found that making a commitment helps enormously with reaching your goals, and too much time in between lessons is detrimental to focus. After 3 weeks, you might start to forget what you were working on! A 5-lesson package is a good way to try out consistent lessons and see how much progress you make.
Can I just take monthly or occasional lessons? Of course! You can learn at your own pace! Intermediate and advanced players may already have a practice regimen and this can be a great supplement to that.
What if I have to miss or reschedule a lesson? Just give me at least 24 hours notice so that we can find another mutually convenient time.
I'm a total beginner. I don't even know how to hold or tune a guitar. Is that OK? Yes, no problem! We'll start with the basics and get you up and running in no time!
I already know a few chords. Do I have to start from the very beginning? We’ll start wherever you are. You don’t have to worry about learning things the “right” or “wrong” way. The goal is to use the knowledge you already have as a starting point and getting you to where you want to go with the guitar.
